It records in high definition video (so it shoots extra sharp videos).
From that high def video, you can extract individual pictures/photos: they will look great, because you are taking them from an high def video. It will be like snapping a picture with a normal "still shots camera".

You might be wondering, How does it attach to the surfboard? Super easy! Like a trackpad... it uses 3M adhesives.
